At least an argument can be put in place with seat belts that if someone wants to increase their risk of death, that's their choice. The decision to distract oneself while driving is another matter altogether.
And yes, that should apply to eating while driving, etc. I wouldn't even be against repealing drunk driving laws as long as the drunk drivers were alone in their vehicles on streets either empty or populated only with other drunk drivers.
People doing stupid things resulting in their own deaths is natural selection in action. However, when they put my life at risk, I'd like to have a little say in the matter.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274660286646644831.post-46296384771408284652008-08-17T12:22:00.000-07:002008-08-17T12:22:00.000-07:00well damn dude..you just blew my mind on that onewell damn dude..you just blew my mind on that oneDavid Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02478416976645501022noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274660286646644831.post-85916117435421142882008-08-07T20:12:00.000-07:002008-08-07T20:12:00.000-07:00RVD, I don't know if you read these, and I don't k...RVD, I don't know if you read these, and I don't know how to e-mail you directly. Spain and th...Nihao RVD-san,

Glad to hear from you! Spain and the Islands sound beautiful but as busy as you were and as much as you’ve had on your minds, did you guys truly get any opportunity to relax? Nice to know that you well treated and in good company, at any rate. Hope those trends continue.

Extra good energy coming your way. The first week of chemo is not always the worst but it’s a rough path to tread.

Happy to know that SVD-san is remaining her incredible self. Now what about you? You’re precious to SVD-san and also to many other people as well, so please keep taking good care. Because it’s difficult to be a good caregiver for others if you neglect yourself. Caregivers need to be reminded of these things now and then…

The whole ‘healing with poison’ thing is indeed ironic but as far as I know, it’s also pretty much all that our doctors are being trained to work with at the moment. Research is being done to change that. Hopefully within our lives, there will come a day when light and/or sound wave therapy will replace chemo completely. No surgery, no pills – just electromagnetic fields gently realigning our DNA into more health promoting patterns.

In the meantime… Goal #1 of chemo is to destroy any microscopic traces of cancer left behind when the tumor was removed. In that regard, chemo does a fairly decent job. Goal #2… Notice how chemo tends to be put through the entire body and not just the affected area? Yea. Cancer has this nasty habit of making a person more attractive to other forms of cancer by altering the bodys PH balance. Don’t know how common of an occurrence this is. All I know is that the chemo can make these previously undetected cancers flare up, which allows them to also be caught and dealt with.

A friend asked me to mention the upbeat book, Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips by Kris Carr. ( http://www.crazysexycancer.com) I also thought about mentioning www.freewillastrology.com – for the Pronoia Theory and the Beauty and Truth Lab. But as awesome as you and SVD-san are, wouldn’t surprise me if you’re already heard of these or something similar and surrounded yourselves with the things that will help your positive energies stay strong.

On the subject of smoke, here’s hoping that Cali quits burning and soon. When it requires firefighters from 42 of the 50 states just to put out the fires in a single state, that’s a smidge scary. Not to mention bad for the air quality.

Happy belated American Independence Day. Yea. Honestly, seems kinda insensible to spend such large amounts of public money on decorative explosives during the height of fire season. If they moved the fireworks to, say, November or if they just plain spent the money on something else, like improving education or healthcare… Wouldn’t be as ‘fun’, I guess. But it might do a whole lot more to ensure that we at least try to remain a relatively ‘free’ people.

Take heart, RVD-san. The fact that a new law is passed doesn’t mean that it will be enforced with any regularity, right? That’s how all laws are. I’m not advocating that we all become outlaws, just am observing that the venerable police force is pretty much always claiming to be understaffed and/or underpaid. Plus there is such an absolute glut of laws on the book… It is highly unlikely that anyone even remembers half of the laws, let alone enforces them.

… With the sincere hope of making someone, somewhere smile I’d like to add as an example that out here it is illegal to go fishing off the back of a giraffe or camel. No idea where you’d find an actual live giraffe or camel or why you’d bother to take it fishing - but there you go. Either our history is far more interesting than anyone ever gave it credit for being or our law-making ancestor had really good imaginations. At least the laws like ‘do not tie a crocodile to a fire hydrant’ seem reasonable, if highly improbable.

Anyway. As you mentioned, the Feds do tend to ignore State laws. So what do you want to bet – the Feds will be among the first to drive around with cell phones and get away with it?

Still, I’ll agree that passing the law to ban phones is kind of stupid. Granted – people who don’t pay attention when they drive are capable of causing harm to others. But taking away one distraction is not likely to make the roadways that much safer. And, the whole general principle of taking away choices aside, it seems…well, a waste of time…that a ban would be placed on a technology that so clearly has the potential to change and leave the law completely outdated. We ought to find a way to raise awareness that doesn’t involve just passing laws right and left.

Eh. Big businesses and the Fed… There are a handful of positive exceptions but for the most part, you can’t fix rotting foundations with a new coat of paint. We might only be in the early stages of the crumbling. Let’s leave it at that.

Did you know about the Micro-Nations? There’s a few on American soil already, quietly and peacefully existing.

The mental imagine of a guy driving around with one finger in his ear is actually a tiny bit amusing. Thanks for that. Would it be correct to assume that most of the reactions you got were looks of mild concern? Or have you inadvertently invented a new gesture to replace the traditional middle finger, do you think?

Addiction is a prickly subject but what you say makes sense. However… Even if there is no such thing as mental addiction, there is still such a thing as mental and emotional imbalances. Perhaps this is why making the choice to change and actually changing can be two different things for some people. For some people, it does take outside help to keep them on track to positive things. And when they feel safer living with their ugly excuses, instead of reaching out… Even those of us who aren’t addicted to any substance and who have no such aspirations, this something we probably all need to work on – not using other people as our excuses.

Mr. Hart-sans book isn’t due to hit shelves out here until maybe October, last I checked. Look forward to it, though. Uhm. Don’t let the fact that you agree with much of his writing ever stop you from writing your own version. Okay?

Less than a month till the offical start of the Olympics. That should be interesting.

Health and patience to Mr. Justin and Mr. Warrior, with their respective fight paths ahead of them. Continuing health and patience to the residents of the Casa Van Dam, with their own battles.

Please keep taking care, one step at a time.

Courage and Peace!

~CalmMountainAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274660286646644831.post-64554891301541543652008-07-08T13:15:00.000-07:002008-07-08T13:15:00.000-07:00yo rob. just ur biggest fan. ive been prayin for s...yo rob. just ur biggest fan. ive been prayin for sonya like i said i would and im thrilled that she is feelin better. i know she will get only better each day like u did each match. i really hope u return soon and if u do please dont go to tna. i know vince is changing ecw for the worse but if u came back and kicked mark henrys ass for the ecw f'n w championship it would mean the world to me. ur my favorite wrestler ever. ur also a hell of a good guy and sonya is so lucky to have u. if u can deliver this message to her from me
sonya- u rock and i know that u will kick cancers ass just like rvd does to his opponents in the ring. but stay strong and u both got a place in my heart

rob im ur biggest fan but for now, just take care of urself and sonya. she needs u a hell of a lot more than i do. but when u do return, i will be watchin cuz ur the whole f'n show ROB VAN DAM. sincerly yours
spencerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274660286646644831.post-59116399875990140002008-07-08T13:10:00.000-07:002008-07-08T13:10:00.000-07:00he rob.he rob.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274660286646644831.post-25354684105759160232008-07-07T14:02:00.000-07:002008-07-07T14:02:00.000-07:00It was amazing to hear that the love of your life ...It was amazing to hear that the love of your life is doing well and getting better, it's amazing too hearing you were in a ring again... and that it was good for you... I've seen plenty of great RVD matches in my day and if watching tapes of the past is all I have... well it blows away 99% of what I see today.

Just remember RVD is no second class .... anything!!!

BOB - OAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15269454947708238271noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6274660286646644831.post-59706452381848538002008-07-06T20:52:00.000-07:002008-07-06T20:52:00.000-07:00Stunning how quickly most people accept suggestion...Stunning how quickly most people accept suggestions that rob them of their own ability to control their lives and be fulfilled. Could it be laziness on the part of the human? Lazily accepting the first "smart sounding" excuse to remain in bondage, rather than focusing their mind and overcoming "addictions" and strongholds. Fascinating thing about the mind is it's uncanny ability to reason contrary to the truth. RVD, I admire how you place no limits upon your consciousness and your no-limit extreme wrestling persona is the perfect metaphor this. I enjoyed your blog!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
